Amazon Rekognition is an AI tool that can be used to located text, faces, people, or scenes in images in videos. You can create your own database of “familiar faces” for Rekognition to use as well. Recognition can be used to look for a particular individual, a set of features, a specific object, text detection, etc.
A big use case of Rekognition is content moderation, it can automatically find content in images or videos that may be deemed inappropriate for your site or social media and can have this submitted for human review via Amazon Augmented AI, A2I. You can set a “confidence threshold” with Rekognition, it will find the percentage likelihood of that unwanted content being present, and if it is higher than the minimum threshold it will be dropped. If the percentage is lower than the confidence threshold then it is possible for the content to be sent to A2I for human review if you so choose. A2I is best described as a backup if Rekognition finds inappropriate content, but does not meet the desired “confidence level” to be removed automatically. Any content that is not flagged at all will of course pass through normally.
Now onto where I’ve been. I have been away for a break due to the holidays as well as working on a big project. I have created a resume writing and career consultation service, Gorsig Consulting LLC. We have just completed setup and are excited to help the community. The main focus of this site is of course learning about IT and developing skills, that will continue to be the purpose and I will not talk about my company here, I just wished to provide an answer for my long absence.
